Moses The Artist

When asked the question, “Why Do You Sing?” Moses just laughs and says, “Because It’s What GOD Made Me To Do.”

For over twenty years, Moses Rangel has established himself as a singer’s singer. Influenced by Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, Pop, Jazz, Rock, and, lots of Country, his music is an evolving fusion of stories and melodies.

1997 - Moses released his first National Country Single, "Texas Highway", which as also the name of his first CD. It got great reviews and was nominated for several awards. As time progressed, Moses took interest in songs and songwriting. As a result, he began to develop and expand his craft with a new level of creativity. His style and artistic mastery of phrases and notes began to bare witness in his recordings. Like a fine wine, his tone and sound matured into a distinct, warm, high baritone.

2011 - Moses released a re-make of "Welcome To My World". The result was a refreshing take of a classic tune recorded with a twist of country jazz.

2015 - November 15 - Moses released a brand new single to country radio. The new single brought new meaning to country love songs. Written by multi-talented hit SESAC songwriters, Jim Femino and James Otto, Moses’ interpretation blended a soulful, neo-traditional country sound into a mix of swampy soul gumbo. WE AIN’T MISSIN’ NOTHIN’ was the first single to be released off the album to a national market.

2016 - May 31 - Moses teamed up with Austin, TX based promoter, Ed Spacek with The Spacek Company for a Texas Radio Release. "Thinkin' You Could Be Mine" would be the first Texas Radio single off the album. The single did well and top the TRRR charts at number sixty-six.

2016 - December 16 - Moses' MOSAIC CD was officially made available for downloads on iTunes and other online stores. "The CD sounds like if Glen Campbell and Tom Petty recorded an album together in Muscle Shoals, Alabama" - Michael Hughes - Hartwell Studios

2017 - After several months of performances, Moses began working on a new project that is projected for a May 2018 release. In the meantime, Moses will be releasing a new single to radio in October 2017 and concentrating on touring.

More About Mo

It is said that every person has at least one gift from God. For some, that gift can be hard to discover. With a little help, Moses Rangel discovered his gift, his voice. It was by chance in the early 90's when Moses was in search of a purchasing a guitar that his musical journey began. He caught the eye of the store employee, who asked him if he could sing. Before Moses could answer, the intuitive clerk asks if he would sing her a song. Giving into the request Moses chose Elvis' "Love me Tender" for his first vocal presentation. Needless to say, with a guitar in hand and a little confidence, Moses began his musical career.
Moses grew up in Richmond, Texas just outside of Houston. He was very familiar with the vast country western scene the city and surrounding communities had to offer. Traditional country artists gave Moses a base where he wanted to grow from as a singer. Marty Robbins, Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Johnny Rodriquez, and of course George Strait were a few legends that Moses found inspiration to strive for in his career. In the early years, talent shows and small gigs at restaurants, gave Moses a chance to experience work as a solo artist. As a musician, Moses was able to get a good handle on the chords and presentation. Most important Moses was able to demonstrate his wide variety of vocal range and widen his music selection. With a little experience and maturity, Moses began getting booked for weddings and private parties. As part of growing as an artist, Moses decided to record some demos for a local independent label. The experience gave Moses his first single. The single, "Seeing Another Woman" had regional and overseas success. Soon after a follow up single, "Texas Highway" gave Moses his first number one hit. For fifteen weeks the single stayed on the Nashville Tracker chart. Moses received many accolades for his efforts on the independent label compilations. Nashville's Golden Music Awards honored Moses with several nominations including New Male Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year. While the praise and success were gratifying, Moses yearned to get back to his roots of neo-traditional country. He worked hard to get his career back to the basics of what he wanted as a musical artist. He became a permanent member of the nationally syndicated show, "Live at the Liberty Theater." Moses took the opportunity to get experience and exposure. As an artist, Moses craved to be back on stage in front of a live audience. In the past few years, Moses has fronted several country bands. He is currently working with a group of musicians to start up his new band. This new venture will give him the freedom to play the vast music selection he craves as an entertainer. Moses' journey in life has taken him many places. He will use his gift from God to continue his musical aspirations and his strong spirit to have the strength to get there.
